Lambton Shores falls to St. Thomas in overtime, 7-6 (OT)

The St. Thomas Stars' Carson Brookshaw scored 2:26 into overtime to beat the Lambton Shores Predators, 7-6 (OT).

St. Thomas forced Lambton Shores' goalies to work without much rest, launching 41 shots and forcing 34 saves. Tyler Caruana made 17 stops and Anthony Hurtubise made 17. The Stars surpassed their usual scoring output this season. St. Thomas has scored at the pace of 4.0 goals per game during the current campaign. The Stars capitalized on the Predators' penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage.

St. Thomas was led by Ryan Valentini, who tallied three goals. St. Thomas additionally got points from Adam Keyes, who also had one goal and one assist. St. Thomas also had goals scored by Jake Reed and Adam Truax, who scored one goal each. In addition, St. Thomas received assists from Cal Horvat, who had two, Matt Clarke, who had three, and Dan Black, Matt McJannet, Alex Turko, Carter McCormick, and Andrew Chambers, who contributed one each.

Lambton Shores' offense rang up 40 shots on the Stars' net. The Predators outdid their season average for goals scored. Lambton Shores averages 3.6 goals per game.

The Predators were helped by Sean Ross, who registered two goals and one assist. Ross scored the first of his two goals at 3:32 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Lambton Shores. Andrew Kim provided the assist. Ross' next tally made the score 5-5 with 2:09 left in the second period. Christian Babineau picked up the assist. Lambton Shores also got points from Marcel Berube, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Ethan Sarfati, who also grabbed one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, and Brenden Trottier, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Lambton Shores also got a goal from Connor Merritt as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lambton Shores were Franco Sproviero, Vaughn Treppa, and Gino Mini, who each chipped in one.

Dan Black made 34 saves for St. Thomas on 40 shots. The Stars incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Lambton Shores incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
