Caledonia's Brown deadly on offense in 5-1 win against ThoroldThorold Community Arena Thu, Oct 01, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Caledonia Corvairs relied on the scoring touch of Jake Brown, who netted two goals, to beat the Thorold Blackhawks, 5-1. Brown scored on the power play at 5:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Caledonia and again while on the power play 3:10 into the second to make the score 3-1 Caledonia.Thorold was stymied by Caledonia's netminder Marc Sinclair, who stopped 25 shots during the victory. Sinclair certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.5 entering the contest. The Blackhawks' power play was ineffective against the Corvairs' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Caledonia stifled Thorold's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Blackhawks were unable to stop the Corvairs from sending pucks towards the net, and Caledonia eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. The Corvairs were hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. Caledonia additionally got points from Mackenzie MacSorley, who also registered one goal and one assist. Caledonia also had goals scored by Austin Brown and Matt McCartney, who scored one goal each. More assists for Caledonia came via Mitchell Fitzmorris and Jordan Brown, who each chipped in one and Blake Luscombe, Corey Pawley, and Matthew Hore, who contributed two each. Thorold was often in penalty trouble, as it ended with seven minors and two majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. The Blackhawks were led by Cosimo Amore, who scored the team's only goal. Amore scored 6:14 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Anton Trublin picked up the assist. Caledonia registered three goals on eight power play opportunities. For the Corvairs, Riley Vanhorne and Tait Seguin were ejected from the contest. Josh Astorino recorded 39 saves for Thorold. Team's Quinn Geddes and Patrick McCabe were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
