Huge game by Cole boosts Kitchener over Guelph, 6-0

Connor Cole was all over the ice for the Kitchener Dutchmen, as he tallied two goals and two assists in Kitchener's 6-0 win over the Guelph Hurricanes.

Cole's tallies came on the power play at 2:16 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Kitchener and on the power play 6:38 into the third to make the score 3-0 Kitchener.

Guelph was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as the Dutchmen were able to score four times while on the power play.

Kitchener's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Guelph power plays. The Dutchmen's defensive effort looked to be improved. Kitchener averages 2.3 goals allowed per game. The Hurricanes were unable to stop the Dutchmen from sending pucks towards the net, and Kitchener eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Kitchener additionally got points from Matthew Cruickshank, who also registered one goal and one assist and Adam Kawalec, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Kitchener included Zachary Masterson and Austin Gaboury, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Logan Schmidt, who had two and Marselis Subban, Alex Demrovsky, Taite Wirschke, and Jeremy Kuehn, who contributed one each.

Guelph's offense operated below its season average. The Hurricanes average 3.9 goals per game.

Luke Richardson rejected 20 shots on goal for the Dutchmen. Kitchener incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Guelph's Christian Propp stopped 30 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Hurricanes ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. For Guelph, Ryan Burns was ejected from the game.
