Chatham falls to Sarnia in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Sarnia Legionnaires' Eric Marsh scored 1:19 into overtime to beat the Chatham Maroons, 5-4 (OT).

Sarnia overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Legionnaires was down 3-1 after a goal by Chatham's Ian Faubert at 2:18 in the second period. Sarnia tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Alec DeKoning at 16:41 in the second period.

The Legionnaires were sparked by Marsh, who racked up one goal.

Sarnia kept the Maroons' goalie busy throughout the game, and Colin Lauzon made 36 saves on 41 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

Sarnia also got points from Brett Storr, who also registered one goal and one assist and DeKoning, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Sarnia included Sam McCormack and Jordan Fogarty, who each put in one. More assists for Sarnia came via Hunter Tyczynski, who had two and Ryan Trottier and Brandon Layman, who contributed one each.

Chatham excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Maroons forced the Legionnaires goalie Shane Battler to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Chatham additionally got points from Connor McKinnon, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Gus Ford, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Brayden Hopkins, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Chatham received assists from Luc Knight, who had one and Logan Percy, who had three.

Shane Battler made 32 saves for Sarnia on 36 shots. The Legionnaires incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Sarnia ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jacob Stos was ejected from the game. Chatham incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
