Listowel downs Brampton in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Listowel Cyclones pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Brampton Bombers on a clutch goal by Chayse Herrfort.

Listowel nearly gave up a two-score lead. The Cyclones made the score 4-2 on a goal by Jamie Huber at 3:24 in the third period. Brampton pulled to within 4-3 on a power play goal by Cameron Cruickshank at 5:24 in the third period.

Listowel racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The Cyclones had been averaging 17.0 minutes in penalties per game. Listowel kept the Bombers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jason Rhynold made 33 saves on 38 shots.

Listowel also got points from Herrfort, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Carter Franks also scored for Listowel. In addition, Listowel received assists from Ben Shelley, who had three and Robert White, Brady Anderson, Kade Landry, and Tim Nauta, who contributed one each.

Brampton forced the Cyclones goalie Tyler Fassl to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. Team could not crack Listowel's penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

The Bombers were led by Mitch Shennette, who registered one goal and one assist. Shennette scored 9:38 into the third period to make the score 4-4. Mike Rehding provided the assist. Brampton additionally got points from Rehding, who also had one goal and one assist. Brampton also got a goal from Nick Kiriakos as well. More assists for Brampton came via Patrick Zilak, who had two and Yianni Liarakos and Jordan Kreller, who each chipped in one.

The Cyclones' Fassl stopped 31 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Listowel registered one goal on six power play opportunities. The Cyclones ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Blake Nichol was ejected from the game. Brampton ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. For the Bombers, Brad Bollert was ejected from the game.
