Behind a great game by Corey Pawley, who had two goals and two assists, the Caledonia Corvairs defeated the Thorold Blackhawks, 7-4. Pawley scored at 1:16 into the second period to make the score 4-0 Caledonia and again while on the power play 19:17 into the second to make the score 5-3 Caledonia.Caledonia forced Blackhawks' goaltenders to work without much rest, ripping 39 shots and forcing 32 saves. Josh Astorino made 22 stops and Fraser Kirk made 10. The Corvairs' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Caledonia finished with 48 penalty minutes. Caledonia additionally got points from Blake Luscombe, who also had two goals and one assist. Caledonia also had goals scored by Jordan Brown, Matt Rimac, and Jake Brown, who scored one goal each. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Mitch Graham, who had two, Ryan Punkari, Scott Dorion, and Tait Seguin, who each chipped in one, and Matthew Hore and Todd Ratchford, who contributed three each. Thorold struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 48 penalty minutes for 10 opposing power plays. The Blackhawks were helped by Aaron Nunes, who grabbed two goals. Nunes scored the first of his two goals at 9:31 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Caledonia. Anthony Merante assisted on the tally. Nunes' next tally made the score 4-3 Caledonia with 7:58 left in the second period. Thorold had taken the advantage when the Corvairs' Pawley got sent off for goalie interference. David Dagostino picked up the assist. Others who scored for Thorold included Jake Lloyd and Anthony Postiglione, who each put in one. More assists for Thorold came via Tyler Sehovic, who had three. Marc Sinclair made 18 saves for Caledonia on 22 shots. The Corvairs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Connor Patton was ejected from the game. The Blackhawks registered three goals on seven power play opportunities.
