Ancaster rips Pelham, 6-1

The Pelham Panthers had trouble finding ways to stop the Ancaster Avalanche, which beat Panthers, 6-1.

Pelham's power play was ineffective against Ancaster's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Avalanche were led by Owen Burnell, who tallied one goal. Burnell scored 7:14 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Ancaster. Ryan Knill picked up the assist.

Ancaster forced the Panthers' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 42 shots and forcing 36 saves. Corey Foster made 27 stops and Stephen Harvey made nine. The Avalanche stifled Pelham's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Ancaster also got points from Ben Hughes, who also had one goal and two assists, Michael Pollice, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Ryan Cox, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Josh Pace, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Ancaster also got a goal from Zach Jackson as well. More assists for Ancaster came via Matt Mannella, who had two and Owen Norton and Fedor Gordeev, who each chipped in one.

The Panthers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Jesse Burger also scored for Pelham. In addition, Pelham received assists from Brandon MacKinnon, who had one.

Cole Ceci made 22 saves for Ancaster on 23 shots. The Avalanche incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
