Niagara Falls holds on for 4-2 win against Fort Erie

The Fort Erie Meteors tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Niagara Falls Canucks held on for a 4-2 victory.

Niagara Falls took a 4-1 lead during the third period, only to have Fort Erie storm back on a Nick Passafiume goal 12:13 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

The Canucks were led by Jeffrey Venzon, who finished with one goal and one assist. Venzon scored 7:38 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Niagara Falls. Matthew Marsden picked up the assist.

Niagara Falls forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and one major for 43 minutes in penalty time. The Canucks surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game.

Niagara Falls also got points from Marsden, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Niagara Falls also had goals scored by Tanner Allen and Aviv Milner, who scored one goal each. More assists for Niagara Falls came via Andrew Brown, William Shaffer, and Dillon Hill, who each chipped in one.

Team could not crack Niagara Falls' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having 12 opportunities to play with the man advantage.

Ben Evans also scored for Fort Erie. In addition, Fort Erie received assists from Bryce Martin and Anthony Passero, who contributed two each.

Adam Dentico recorded 28 saves for the Canucks. Niagara Falls registered two goals on four power play opportunities. For the Canucks, Milner was ejected from the game. Brayden Lachance made 21 saves for the Meteors on 25 shots. Fort Erie incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Meteors ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Darien Kielb was ejected from the game.
