Nicholas Dozzi had two points to lead the St. Catharines Falcons to a 5-0 victory over the Thorold Blackhawks. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 18:55 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts. St. Catharines was often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and three majors for 75 minutes in penalty time. The Falcons surpassed its season average of 44.0 penalty minutes per game. St. Catharines forced Thorold's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 34 shots and forcing 29 saves. Josh Astorino made 11 stops and Fraser Kirk made 18. The Falcons put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Blackhawks to score on any of their four power plays. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. St. Catharines also got points from Broderick Kelly, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Tyler Jackson, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Manny Manns, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Justin Felker also scored for St. Catharines. In addition, St. Catharines received assists from Jake Evans, who had two and Cole Langan, Phillip Chadder, Brandon Cercone, and Tyler Hildebrandt, who contributed one each. Thorold forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 13 minors and three majors for 111 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 42.0 minutes per game the Blackhawks had been spending in the box. Thorold excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Blackhawks found themselves stymied offensively, and got off a mere 14 shots against St. Catharines' defense. Joel Horodziejczyk recorded 14 saves for the Falcons. For St. Catharines, Jackson Parker, Jackson, and Evans were ejected from the contest. Team's Patrick McCabe, Cal Davis, and Daniel Pugliese were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
