Early goals doom Brampton, falls to Kitchener, 7-1

The Kitchener Dutchmen jumped out to a four-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat the Brampton Bombers, 7-1.

Kitchener got the win behind a great game by Jeremy Kuehn, who had two goals and three assists. Kuehn scored the first of his two goals at 18:36 into the first period to make the score 3-0 Kitchener. Logan Schmidt assisted on the tally. Kuehn's next tally made the score 7-1 Kitchener with 9:43 left in the third period. Ryan George picked up the assist.

The Dutchmen's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Brampton power plays. Kitchener forced Brampton goalie Jason Rhynold to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. The Dutchmen surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Kitchener averages 4.6 goals per game.

Kitchener also got points from Connor Cole, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Adam Kawalec, who also had one goal and one assist. Alex Demrovsky also scored for Kitchener. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Taite Wirschke, who had one and Austin Gaboury, who had two.

The Bombers excelled on the penalty kill, only allowing the Dutchmen to get one power play goal on 12 chances. Brampton could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 40 minutes in penalties during the game.

Brampton also got a goal from Mike Rehding as well. In addition, Brampton received assists from Yianni Liarakos and Jordan Kreller, who each chipped in one.

Luke Richardson rejected 18 shots on goal for Kitchener. The Dutchmen incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Bombers' Rhynold stopped 30 shots out of the 37 that he faced.
