Guelph survives Elmira comeback, wins 4-3Dan Snyder Memorial Sun, Sep 20, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Elmira Sugar Kings tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Guelph Hurricanes held on for a 4-3 victory. Guelph took a 4-2 lead during the third period, only to have Elmira storm back on a Ty Jackson goal 17:40 into the third period to pull to one goal down. Ryan Burns had a great game for the Hurricanes, netting two goals. Burns' tallies came on the power play at 8:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Guelph and short handed 57 seconds into the third to make the score 3-2 Guelph. Guelph put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Sugar Kings to score on any of their four power plays. The Hurricanes' offense rang up 35 shots on Elmira's net. Others who scored for Guelph included Cameron Stokes and Lucas Dybowski, who scored one goal each. In addition, Guelph received assists from Stefano Pezzetta, Sean Power, Ryan Migliaccio, Corson Searles, Cameron Palmer, Alex Ritchie, and Brody Milne, who contributed one each. The Sugar Kings kept Guelph's goalie busy throughout the game, and Christian Propp made 33 saves on 36 shots. Elmira was helped by Jake Moggy, who had one goal. Moggy scored 11:18 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Guelph. Alex Peterson assisted on the tally. Klayton Hoelscher also scored for Elmira. More assists for Elmira came via Rob Kohli, Jeff Jordan, and Zac Coulter, who each chipped in one. The Hurricanes incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mike Black rejected 31 shots on goal for the Sugar Kings. Elmira incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
