Strathroy downs Lambton Shores in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Matt McGhee gave the Strathroy Rockets a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Lambton Shores Predators when he scored 2:00 into the extra period.

Lambton Shores could not complete its climb out of a two-goal hole. Strathroy made the score 4-2 on a goal by Riley O`Connell at 7:22 in the third period. The Predators pulled to within 4-3 on a power play goal by Ethan Sarfati at 8:29 in the third period.

O`Connell had two goals to lead the Rockets to victory.

Strathroy forced Lambton Shores goalie Anthony Hurtubise to work between the pipes, taking 48 shots. The Rockets' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Strathroy averages 2.0 goals per contest. The Rockets could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 38 minutes in penalties during the game.

Strathroy also got points from McGhee, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Strathroy also had goals scored by Matt Laberge and Lucas Latina, who each put in one. In addition, Strathroy received assists from Shane Bulitka, who had one and Nick Griffin, who had two.

The Predators kept Strathroy's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mat Ouellet made 36 saves on 40 shots. Lambton Shores could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Predators were led by Brenden Trottier, who registered one goal and two assists. Trottier scored on the power play 12:07 into the third period to make the score 4-4. Lambton Shores had gotten the advantage when the Rockets' TJ Harris was sent off for slashing. Sarfati provided the assist. Lambton Shores additionally got points from Connor Merritt, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Sarfati, who also had one goal and one assist. Lambton Shores also got a goal from Ryan Fraser as well. More assists for Lambton Shores came via Colin Burns, who had two and Marcel Berube and Brett Corrigan, who each chipped in one.

Strathroy registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Anthony Hurtubise made 43 saves for the Predators on 48 shots. Lambton Shores registered three goals on seven power play opportunities.
