Sean Farquharson gave the Niagara Falls Canucks the lead in the first period, and the Thorold Blackhawks was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 2-1. Farquharson provided Niagara Falls with the game-winning tally when he scored 15:33 into the first period. The Canucks had gotten the advantage when Thorold's Patrick McCabe was sent off for roughing. Brendan McFall assisted on the tally.Niagara Falls was led by goalie Joseph Murdaca, who finished with 36 saves while allowing one goal. Murdaca managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.5 prior to the game. The Canucks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 28 penalty minutes. Niagara Falls stifled the Blackhawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Peter Falivena also scored for Niagara Falls. In addition, Niagara Falls received assists from Luke Laurin and Aviv Milner, who each chipped in one. The Canucks were unable to stop Thorold from sending pucks towards the net, and the Blackhawks eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Thorold could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game. The Blackhawks were led by Chris Corgan, who scored the team's only goal. Corgan scored 9:48 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Thorold. Aaron Nunes picked up the assist. Niagara Falls registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. The Canucks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Falivena was ejected from the game. Fraser Kirk rejected 24 shots on goal for Thorold. The Blackhawks registered zero goals on eight power play opportunities.
