Kohli's big game bests Listowel in 6-3 Elmira win

Rob Kohli had two goals and two assists to lead the Elmira Sugar Kings to a 6-3 victory over the Listowel Cyclones.

Kohli scored on the power play at 6:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Elmira and again while short handed 4:16 into the second to make the score 4-1 Elmira.

Elmira forced Cyclones' goaltenders to work between the pipes, ripping 35 shots and forcing 29 saves. Tyler Fassl made 19 stops and Wyatt Nicholson made 10. The Sugar Kings was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play.

Elmira additionally got points from Ethan Skinner, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Zac Coulter, who also had two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Quinten Bruce also scored for Elmira. Other players who recorded assists for Elmira were Mitch Montgomery, who had two and Kevin Gergely and Harlen VanWynsberghe, who each chipped in one.

Listowel's offense rang up 31 shots on Elmira's net.

The Cyclones were led by Jordan Caskenette, who registered one goal. Caskenette scored 15:22 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Elmira. Chayse Herrfort picked up the assist. Others who scored for Listowel included Jakob Lee and Jamie Huber, who scored one goal each. More assists for Listowel came via Keaton Willis, Blake Nichol, and Carter Franks, who contributed one each.

Mike Black recorded 28 saves for the Sugar Kings. Elmira incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Listowel incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
