Christian Polillo scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Brantford 99ers held off the challenges of the Brampton Bombers in a tough 2-0 win. Brantford took over the lead for good with a goal by Polillo at 1:32 in the first period. Kyle Walker assisted on the tally.The 99ers were boosted by Will Rawski, who turned in a shutout with 45 saves. Rawski certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 0.29 entering the contest. Brantford was sparked by Polillo, who racked up one goal. The 99ers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Brampton to score on any of its five power plays. Brantford also got points from Walker, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Brantford were Guy Polillo and Sheenan Kirkwood, who each chipped in one. The Bombers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Brantford was unable to stop Brampton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bombers eventually piled up 45 shots on goal. The 99ers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Brampton's Jason Rhynold stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Bombers incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
