Little Britain outlasts Clarington, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Little Britain Merchants escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Clarington Eagles.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Curtis Lee secured the win for Little Britain with a goal in the second period.

The Merchants' penalty kill excelled, as Little Britain gave up zero goals despite allowing 11 power plays.

The Merchants were led by Lee, who grabbed one goal. Lee scored 16:20 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Little Britain. Brady Martin picked up the assist.

Little Britain stifled Clarington's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Eagles were unable to stop the Merchants from sending pucks towards the net, and Little Britain eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. The Merchants could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 38 minutes in penalties during the game.

Little Britain also got points from Mackenzie Smith, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kurtis Moore also scored for Little Britain. In addition, Little Britain received assists from Mitchell Brown, who had one and Terry Snoddon, who had two.

Clarington's offense rang up 52 shots on Little Britain's net. The Eagles struggled on the penalty kill, allowing the Merchants to score two power play goals on three chances.

Clarington was helped by Jim Allen, who registered one goal. Allen scored 5:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Clarington. Ben Grieve assisted on the tally. Clarington also got a goal from Cody Kean as well. Other players who recorded assists for Clarington were Brent Hambly and Gaige Van Asten, who contributed one each.

Little Britain's Garrett Haden stopped 50 shots out of the 52 that he faced. The Merchants ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nathan Hughes was ejected from the game. Max Tjin made 37 saves for the Eagles on 40 shots. Clarington incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
