Welsh's big game bests Team California in 3-1 Connecticut Yankees win

Behind a great game by Connor Welsh, who had two goals and one assist, Connecticut Yankees defeated Team California, 3-1.

Welsh found the back of the net 3:51 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Connecticut Yankees and again while 11:28 into the third to make the score 2-1 Connecticut Yankees.

Connecticut Yankees was led by goalie Katie Desa, who finished with 32 saves while allowing one goal. Desa certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.68 entering the contest.

Team California was unable to stop Connecticut Yankees from sending pucks towards the net, and Connecticut Yankees eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Connecticut Yankees also got a goal from Andon Cerbone as well. In addition, Connecticut Yankees received assists from Tyler Guy, who had two and Ryan Friedman and Kurt Gurkan, who each chipped in one.

Team California's offense rang up 33 shots on Connecticut Yankees' net.

Team California was led by Cutter Gauthier, who scored the team's only goal. Gauthier scored on the power play 3:54 into the third period to make the score 1-1. A cross checking penalty on Ronan ODonnell had put Team California on the power play. Peter Kioussis assisted on the tally.

Connecticut Yankees incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Team California's Vincent Lamberti stopped 29 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Team California incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
