Baylis' big game bests Pembroke in 7-2 Carleton Place win

Behind a great game by Stephen Baylis, who had one goal and four assists, the Carleton Place Canadians defeated the Pembroke Lumber Kings, 7-2.

Baylis got on the board by slotting home a goal 3:37 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Carleton Place. Larry Smith assisted on the tally. Baylis dished an assist on Anthony Latina's goal that made the score 1-0 Carleton Place at 14:25 into the first period. He then added assists on Evan Peterson's goal at 27 seconds into the third, on Dylan Gareau's goal at 8:46 into the third, and on Gareau's goal at 9:55 into the third.

With the win, Carleton Place evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown.

Pembroke's nine penalties came back to haunt it, as the Lumber Kings let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

The Canadians forced Lumber Kings' goaltenders to work without much rest, getting 36 shots and forcing 29 saves. Darren Smith made 24 stops and Sean Keating made five.

Carleton Place also got points from Latina, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Andy Sturtz, who also racked up one goal and two assists. More assists for Carleton Place came via Kelly Summers, who had two and Tyson Stewart and Craig Pefley, who contributed one each.

Pembroke was helped by Jordan Larson, who tallied one goal. Larson scored 18:55 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Carleton Place. Mark Petaccio picked up the assist. Trent Durocher also scored for Pembroke. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Keegan Harper, who had one and Felix Chamberland, who had two.

Guillaume Therien made 24 saves for Carleton Place on 26 shots. The Canadians incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. The Lumber Kings incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
