Therien stymies Kemptville, Carleton Place wins 5-1

Guillaume Therien stood on his head and made 27 saves to lead the Carleton Place Canadians to a 5-1 victory over the Kemptville 73s.

The win by Carleton Place clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

The Canadians were led by Kelly Summers, who tallied one goal and one assist. Summers scored 4:36 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Carleton Place. Tyson Stewart assisted on the tally.

Carleton Place forced Kemptville goalie Matt Couvrette to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Carleton Place also got points from Brett DAndrea, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Carleton Place included Stephen Cooney, Dylan Gareau, and Evan Peterson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Elias Ghantous, Devin Campbell, Anthony Latina, Andrew Dodson, Anthony McVeigh, and Stephen Baylis, who contributed one each.

The 73s excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Kemptville was led by Alex Row, who scored the team's only goal. Row scored on the power play 19:12 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The 73s earned a power play opportunity when Campbell was put in the box for roughing after whistle. Jonathon Masters picked up the assist.

The Canadians incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Kemptville's Couvrette stopped 27 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The 73s incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
