Carleton Place beats Kemptville 5-2 as DAndrea gets hat trick

Brett DAndrea lifted the Carleton Place Canadians to a 5-2 victory with a hat trick against the Kemptville 73s.

DAndrea's first goal came 11:29 into the first period. He then added goals at 17:18 into the first and at 9:26 into the second.

The win gave Carleton Place a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Canadians' offense rang up 35 shots on Kemptville's net.

Carleton Place also got points from Kelly Summers, who also registered one goal and one assist. Owen Stewart also scored for Carleton Place. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Larry Smith, Devin Campbell, and Andy Sturtz, who contributed one each and Elias Ghantous, Adam Lloyd, and Stephen Baylis, who each chipped in two.

The 73s kept Carleton Place's goalie busy throughout the game, and Guillaume Therien made 29 saves on 31 shots.

Kemptville was helped by Justin Haasbeek, who tallied one goal. Haasbeek scored 16:45 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Carleton Place. Ben St Marseille assisted on the tally. Kemptville also got a goal from Alex Row as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kemptville were Cody Hendsbee, Olivier Chabot, and Jesse Blais, who contributed one each.

The Canadians incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Matt Couvrette recorded 30 saves for the 73s. Kemptville incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
