Larocque's hat trick boosts Belle River over Blenheim, 7-1

Branden Larocque lifted the Belle River Canadiens to a 7-1 victory with a hat trick against the Blenheim Blades.

Larocque notched his first tally 15:49 into the first period. He then added goals at 42 seconds into the second and at 9:54 into the second.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Blenheim faces elimination next time out.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 17:01 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Belle River made the Blades' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, getting 39 shots and forcing 32 saves. Eric Stewardson made 22 stops and Adam Leboeuf made 10. The Canadiens excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Belle River additionally got points from Guy Levesque, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Kyle Gagnon, who also had one goal and one assist. Belle River also had goals scored by Nick Tavoleiri and JJ Percy, who each put in one. In addition, Belle River received assists from Mike Ditty, who had two, Sebastian Kanally, who had three, Brian Johnson, who had four, and Hunter Corp, Tyler Turner, and Brenden Crundwell, who contributed one a piece.

Blenheim was led by Kirk McKillop, who scored the team's only goal. McKillop scored 50 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Blenheim. Jarrod Oliphant provided the assist.

Mitch Topliffe made 21 saves for Belle River on 22 shots. The Canadiens totaled 41 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 2-for-7 on the power play. Belle River ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kody Gagnon was ejected from the game. The Blades ended with 35 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors and one major. For Blenheim, Oliphant was ejected from the game.
