The Essex 73s' Jordan Ryan scored 8:15 into overtime to beat the Wheatley Sharks, 4-3 (OT). After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Wheatley faces elimination next time out. Essex came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The 73s was down 2-0 after a goal by the Sharks' Jon Woelk at 9:08 in the first period. Essex knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Corey Beaulieu at 14:15 in the third period. Wheatley's power play was ineffective against the 73s' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Essex's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Wheatley power plays. The Sharks were unable to stop the 73s from sending pucks towards the net, and Essex eventually piled up 47 shots on goal. Essex also had goals scored by Matthew Hebert and Scott Bromley, who each put in one. More assists for Essex came via Matthew Rosati, Dallas Pereira, Tyler Raymont, Michael Popel, and Colin DeLaet, who contributed one a piece. Wheatley excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Sharks' offense rang up 42 shots on the 73s' net. Brendon Anger also scored for Wheatley. In addition, Wheatley received assists from Brett Babkirk, Jimmy Ciacelli, Austin Thompson, Eric Rivard, and Scott Florence, who each chipped in one. Darien Ekblad recorded 39 saves for Essex. The 73s incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Conner MacKinnon made 43 saves for Wheatley on 47 shots. The Sharks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
