The Essex 73s survived a determined comeback attempt by the Dresden Kings on the way to a 4-3 win. A goal by Daniel Slipchuk put Essex up 4-2 in the second period, but Dresden pulled to within one on Blake Padbury's tally 7:52 into the third period. The win by the 73s clinched the best of seven series at 4-0. Essex was led by Slipchuk, who tallied one goal. Slipchuk scored on the power play 15:37 into the second period to make the score Essex. The 73s had gained a power play chance when Jeff Vanrabaeys was whistled for interference. Alex Garon assisted on the tally. Essex put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Kings to score on any of their five power plays. The 73s forced Dresden goalie Brent Paxton to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Essex also got points from Tyler Raymont, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Essex also had goals scored by Corey Beaulieu and Daniel McIntyre, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Essex were Matthew Rosati, Dallas Pereira, Michael Popel, Scott Bromley, Colin DeLaet, and Andy Gossman, who contributed one a piece. The Kings were helped by Mike Myers, who tallied one goal. Myers scored 1:14 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Macks Holmes picked up the assist. Dresden also got a goal from Dede Cato as well. In addition, Dresden received assists from Braeden Nicholson, Jim McKinlay, and Derek Daly, who each chipped in one. Jacob Kment made 25 saves for Essex on 28 shots. The 73s incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Essex ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and DeLaet was ejected from the game. Paxton recorded 29 saves for Dresden. The Kings incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
