Belle River rolls over Amherstburg, 5-1

The Belle River Canadiens were firing on all cylinders against the Amherstburg Admirals, and when the final buzzer sounded Canadiens emerged with a 5-1 win.

The win by Belle River broke a deadlock and gave the Canadiens a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Belle River was paced by Brenden Crundwell, who grabbed one goal. Crundwell scored 17:46 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Belle River. Brad Carroll assisted on the tally.

The Canadiens made Amherstburg's goaltenders to work all game long, getting 35 shots and forcing 30 saves. Arren Romeril made 24 stops and Klinton Kenney made six.

Belle River additionally got points from Hunter Corp, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Belle River included Sebastian Kanally, Zack Bedard, and Trevor Sparks, who each put in one. More assists for Belle River came via JJ Percy, who had two and Branden Larocque, Mac Laforest, Kody Gagnon, and Connor Goodchild, who each chipped in one.

The Admirals put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Belle River to score on any of its five power plays.

Amherstburg was led by Blake Rutckyj, who scored the team's only goal. Rutckyj scored on the power play 9:45 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Belle River. The Admirals had gotten the advantage when the Canadiens' Andy Britton was sent off for interference. Mark Sobocan picked up the assist.

Mitch Topliffe made 22 saves for Belle River on 23 shots. The Canadiens incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Amherstburg incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
