Mooretown rides Johnson to victory over Blenheim, 2-1Blenheim Memorial Arena Thu, Feb 13, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Brandon Johnson stood on his head and made 44 saves to lead the Mooretown Flags to a 2-1 victory over the Blenheim Blades. After the loss made the series score 2-3 in the best of seven series, Blenheim faces elimination next time out. Mooretown was led by Sam McCormack, who registered one goal. McCormack scored on the power play 8:24 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Mooretown. The Flags had taken the advantage when the Blades' Kirk McKillop got sent off for hooking. Sam Jasmin assisted on the tally. Mooretown stifled Blenheim's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Flags kept the Blades' goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Leboeuf made 32 saves on 34 shots. Mooretown also got a goal from Ryan Lyle as well. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Spencer Bronzi and Macgregor Haddon, who contributed one a piece. Blenheim's offense rang up 45 shots on Mooretown's net. The Blades were led by Justin Rossignol, who scored the team's only goal. Rossignol scored 3:21 into the second period to make the score 1-1. McKillop picked up the assist. The Flags incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Blenheim incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
