Blenheim beats Mooretown 5-2 as Rossignol gets hat trickBlenheim Memorial Arena Sun, Feb 09, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Mooretown Flags could not stop the Blenheim Blades' Justin Rossignol, who tallied a hat trick in a 5-2 win. Rossignol notched his first tally 13:15 into the second period. He then added goals at 7:10 into the third and at 13:55 into the third.After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Mooretown faces elimination next time out. Blenheim kept the Flags' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Johnson made 52 saves on 57 shots. Blenheim also got points from Ben Pataki APM, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Drew Marlatt also scored for Blenheim. In addition, Blenheim received assists from Cam Aitken, who had two, Kirk McKillop, who had three, and Conner Annett, Tyler Boughner, Zack Horvath, and Brayden Seliga, who each chipped in one. Mooretown was led by Dan Lumley, who racked up two goals. Lumley scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 19:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mooretown. An interference penalty on Pataki APM had put the Flags on the power play. Adam Hayes assisted on the tally. Lumley's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Blenheim with 7:19 left in the third period. Mooretown had gained a power play chance when Seliga was whistled for boarding. Brett Thompson provided the assist. More assists for Mooretown came via McGregor Haddon and Sam Jasmin, who contributed one a piece. Eric Stewardson made 27 saves for the Blades on 29 shots. Blenheim incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. The Flags incurred 40 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
