Wheatley downs Alvinston in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

Evan Makaric gave the Wheatley Sharks a 2-1 (OT) victory over the Alvinston Flyers when he scored 3:58 into the extra period.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Alvinston faces elimination next time out.

Wheatley's Conner MacKinnon was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 27 saves and let only one puck past him. MacKinnon managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.21 prior to the game.

The Sharks were led by Makaric, who registered one goal.

Wheatley excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Flyers were unable to stop the Sharks from sending pucks towards the net, and Wheatley eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Eric Rivard also scored for Wheatley. Other players who recorded assists for Wheatley were Jimmy Ciacelli, Thomas Virban, and Jon Woelk, who each chipped in one.

Alvinston stifled the Sharks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Flyers were led by Joe Archer, who scored the team's only goal. Archer scored 8:55 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Kole Keating provided the assist.

Wheatley incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Brett Avery rejected 36 shots on goal for Alvinston. The Flyers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
