The Wheatley Sharks tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Alvinston Flyers held on for a 5-4 victory. A goal by Tyler Kettler put Alvinston up 5-2 in the second period, but Wheatley pulled to within one on Brett Bowman's tally 16:39 into the third period. The win by the Flyers broke a deadlock and gave Alvinston a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series. The Flyers got the win on the strength of a great game by Dylan Lightfoot, who had two goals and one assist. Lightfoot scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 6:34 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Alvinston. A cross checking penalty on Jimmy Ciacelli had put Alvinston on the power play. Joe Archer assisted on the tally. Lightfoot's next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Alvinston with 4:53 left in the second period. Kettler provided the assist. The Flyers forced the Sharks goalie Conner MacKinnon to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Team could not crack Wheatley's penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having 14 opportunities to play with the man advantage. Alvinston also got points from Kettler, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Alvinston included Jake McPhail and Sam Vokes, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Alvinston were Dan Warner, who had two. The Sharks kept Alvinston's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brett Avery made 31 saves on 35 shots. Wheatley was helped by Jon Woelk, who had one goal. Woelk scored on the power play 12:03 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Alvinston. The Sharks had gotten the advantage when the Flyers' McPhail was sent off for interference. Mike Reid assisted on the tally. Wheatley additionally got points from Bowman, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Brendon Anger, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Wheatley also got a goal from Eric Rivard as well. In addition, Wheatley received assists from Brett Babkirk, who had one. Alvinston incurred 46 minutes in penalty time with 13 minors. MacKinnon recorded 33 saves for Wheatley. The Sharks totaled 37 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors and one major and went 3-for-11 on the power play. Wheatley ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Austin Fontaine was ejected from the game.
