Huge game by DeLaet boosts Essex over Dresden, 8-1

Colin DeLaet was all over the ice for the Essex 73s, as he tallied two goals and three assists in Essex's 8-1 win over the Dresden Kings.

DeLaet scored on the power play at 4:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Essex and again while on the power play 19:46 into the third to make the score 8-1 Essex.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Dresden faces elimination next time out.

The Kings were doomed by their poor performance on special teams, as the 73s were able to score five times while on the power play.

Essex forced Dresden's goaltenders to work all game long, taking 55 shots and forcing 47 saves. Brent Paxton made 31 stops and Jamie Morreau made 16. The 73s' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Dresden power plays.

Essex additionally got points from Matthew Hebert, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Scott Bromley, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Daniel McIntyre, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Chad Hedrick, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Essex included Corey Beaulieu and Philip Janikowski, who scored one goal each. In addition, Essex received assists from Jordan Ryan, Tyler Scott, and Dylan Solecki, who each chipped in one and Dallas Pereira, Tyler Raymont, and Daniel Slipchuck, who contributed two a piece.

The Kings were led by Mike Myers, who scored the team's only goal. Myers scored 9:50 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jeremy Griffore assisted on the tally.

Jacob Kment rejected 17 shots on goal for Essex. The 73s incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Dresden incurred 96 minutes in penalty time with 18 minors.
