The Dresden Kings was within striking distance after one period, but the Essex 73s put the pedal down in the second en route to a 7-3 victory. The win gave Essex a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series. Dresden was unable to stop the 73s from sending pucks towards the net, and Essex eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. The 73s were led by Daniel McIntyre, who registered two goals. McIntyre scored the first of his two goals at 6:16 into the second period to make the score 4-0 Essex. Tyler Scott picked up the assist. McIntyre's next tally made the score 5-0 Essex with 12:03 left in the second period. Aaron Thibert provided the assist. Essex also had goals scored by Dallas Pereira, who had two and Matthew Rosati, Colin DeLaet, and Daniel Slipchuck, who scored one goal each. In addition, Essex received assists from Philip Janikowski, Dan Mainella, and Chad Hedrick, who each chipped in one and Corey Beaulieu, Tyler Raymont, Jordan Ryan, and Dylan Solecki, who contributed two a piece. Essex's Jacob Kment stopped 23 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The 73s incurred 42 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. For Essex, McIntyre was ejected from the game. Brent Paxton made 31 saves for the Kings on 38 shots. Dresden incurred 46 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
