Team Northeast wins tough contest against Team Southwest, 5-3

The Team Northeast Mpls St. Paul Magazine gutted out a close 5-3 win against Team Southwest.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Jake Wahlin secured the win for Team Northeast with a goal in the third period.

Joey Lau was all over the ice for the Mpls St. Paul Magazine, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Lau scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 11:15 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Team Southwest. A slashing penalty on Ryan Swanson had put Team Northeast on the power play. Dylan Woolf assisted on the tally. Lau's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 16:41 left in the third period. Alex Copa provided the assist.

The Mpls St. Paul Magazine forced Team Southwest goalie Maclean Berglove to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots.

Tyler Cline also scored for Team Northeast. In addition, Team Northeast received assists from Mitch Reinke, Brandon Noterman, John Peterson, and Pete Sienko, who contributed one a piece.

Team Southwest's offense rang up 31 shots on Team Northeast's net.

Team Southwest was led by Dylan Malmquist, who had one goal and one assist. Malmquist scored 19:39 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Team Southwest. Johnny Panvica picked up the assist. Team Southwest also got points from Cullen Munson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Team Southwest also got a goal from Kieffer Bellows as well.

Zach Dirscoll rejected 28 shots on goal for the Mpls St. Paul Magazine. Team Northeast incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Berglove recorded 41 saves for Team Southwest. Team Southwest incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
