Alliston survives penalties, beats Stayner, 5-1

The Alliston Hornets, which found themselves down a man often, weathered the Stayner Siskins' power play opportunities and emerged with a 5-1 victory.

Alliston was led by Dakota Brooks, who finished with one goal. Brooks scored on the power play 9:08 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Alliston. The Hornets had gotten the advantage when Stayner's Brendan Skidmore was sent off for interference. Jamie Bennett provided the assist.

Alliston excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances.

Alliston additionally got points from Joe Cochrane, who also had one goal and one assist and Matt Hamilton, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Alliston also got a goal from Nic Archibald as well. Other players who recorded assists for Alliston were Mark ODonnell, who had two and Mike Barosso, Jacob Tuck, Bobby Sloan, Brendan Spencer, and Ben Skuce, who each chipped in one.

The Siskins could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Stayner averages 4.7 goals per game.

The Siskins were led by Kyle Lafreniere, who scored the team's only goal. Lafreniere scored 1:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stayner. Quinton Bruce assisted on the tally.

The Hornets' Tyler Brindle stopped 21 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Alliston incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Aaron Taylor made 16 saves for Stayner on 21 shots. The Siskins incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. For Stayner, Skidmore was ejected from the game.
