Stayner squeaks by Huntsville, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Stayner Siskins escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Huntsville Otters.

Stayner gained the winning advantage on a goal by Corey DeRose 14:00 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

DeRose was all over the ice for the Siskins, as he registered two goals in the win.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 18:16 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Stayner's offense rang up 32 shots on Huntsville's net.

Jason Seeley also scored for Stayner. More assists for Stayner came via Brendan Skidmore, Cooper Martin, Ricky Darrell, and Derick Robertson, who contributed one a piece.

The Otters were helped by Brendan Fitter, who had one goal. Fitter scored 15:10 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Huntsville also got a goal from Marco Luciani as well. In addition, Huntsville received assists from Trayvon Henry and Jake McIntyre, who each chipped in one.

Jay Payton rejected 27 shots on goal for the Siskins. Stayner totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and had no power play opportunities. The Siskins ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jesse Anderson was ejected from the game. Connor Christianson recorded 29 saves for Huntsville. The Otters totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For Huntsville, Jon Treadwell was ejected from the game.
