Stayner rips Huntsville, 7-2

The Stayner Siskins had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-2 win over the Huntsville Otters.

Stayner made Huntsville's netminders to work in net, ripping 49 shots and forcing 42 saves. TJ Sherwood made 27 stops and Hunter Ferguson made 15. The Siskins' goal total was higher than their season average. Stayner averages 4.4 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

The Siskins were helped by Cooper Martin, who racked up two goals. Martin scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stayner. Stayner earned a power play opportunity when Myles Bissonette was put in the box for interference. Lucas Jeffries APM picked up the assist. Martin's next tally on the power play made the score 2-0 Stayner with 16:09 left in the first period. Jesse Anderson assisted on the tally. Stayner additionally got points from Jeffries APM, who also registered one goal and one assist, Ryan Hyndman, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Brandon Watson, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Dakota Hynes, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Stayner also got a goal from Corey DeRose as well. In addition, Stayner received assists from Brendan Skidmore, who had two and Brett Gauthier, Kyle Lafreniere, and Derick Robertson, who each chipped in one.

The Otters could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Huntsville was led by Trayvon Henry, who registered one goal. Henry scored on the power play 9:17 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Stayner. The Otters had taken the advantage when the Siskins' Skidmore got sent off for interference. Jake McIntyre provided the assist. Brendan Fitter also scored for Huntsville. More assists for Huntsville came via Marco Luciani and Bryan Austin, who contributed one a piece.

Allan Menary APM rejected 23 shots on goal for Stayner. The Siskins incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Huntsville registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
