Penetang rips Orillia, 5-1

The Orillia Terriers had trouble finding ways to stop the Penetang Kings, which beat Terriers, 5-1.

Penetang's Adam Redgate was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 36 saves and let only one puck past him. Redgate certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.56 entering the contest.

Orillia's power play was ineffective against the Kings' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 1:07 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Penetang's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on nine Orillia power plays. The Kings kept the Terriers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Gordie Weiss made 37 saves on 42 shots.

Penetang was helped by Jesse Moreau, who tallied one goal. Moreau scored 16:37 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Penetang. Kyle Burns provided the assist. Penetang also got points from Ryan Young, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Penetang included Jack Scanlan, Sammy Gagnon, Austin Fischer, and Brayden Laurin, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Penetang were Graham Haley APM, Ryan Shaw, Matt Fischer, Craig Robinson, and Mac Flewelling, who each chipped in one.

The Orillia penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The Terriers surpassed its season average of 30.0 penalty minutes per game. Orillia did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Terriers put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. Orillia forced the Kings goalie Redgate to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Penetang totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 1-for-10 on the power play. The Kings ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Burns was ejected from the game. For the Terriers, Daniel Lee was ejected from the game.
