Stayner downs Orillia in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Dakota Hynes gave the Stayner Siskins a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Orillia Terriers when he scored 3:05 into the extra period.

Orillia's power play was ineffective against Stayner's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Siskins were paced by Hynes, who grabbed one goal.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 10:45 into the second period. Eight fighting penalties were dished out along with six game misconducts.

Stayner forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 10 minors and two majors for 40 minutes in penalty time. The Siskins had been averaging 26.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Terriers were unable to stop Stayner from sending pucks towards the net, and the Siskins eventually piled up 47 shots on goal. The defensemen of Stayner were also effective in Orillia's zone, and came away with two goals.

Stayner additionally got points from Brandon Watson, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Stayner included Cooper Martin and Jason Seeley, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Stayner were Sean Healy, who had three and Zachery Hannon and Derick Robertson, who each chipped in one.

The Terriers forced the Siskins goalie Jay Payton to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Orillia was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 28 penalty minutes.

The Terriers were helped by Josh Allan, who had one goal. Allan scored on the power play 25 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Jake Shaw provided the assist. Orillia also got points from Marty Lawlor, who also registered one goal and one assist. Daniel Lee also scored for Orillia. In addition, Orillia received assists from Ryan Tucci, who had one.

Stayner's Payton stopped 30 shots out of the 33 that he faced. The Siskins registered two goals on five power play opportunities. For Stayner, Jackson Clarke and Seeley were ejected from the contest. Gordie Weiss made 43 saves for Orillia on 47 shots. Team's Zac Hele and Nathan Beers were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
