The Midland Flyers tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Huntsville Otters held on for a 3-1 victory. A goal by Myles Bissonette put Huntsville up 3-0 in the third period, but Midland pulled to within two on Darren Nesbitt's tally 17:28 into the third period. The Otters were led by goalie TJ Sherwood, who finished with 63 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Sherwood will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 4.49. Huntsville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The Otters' offense rang up 32 shots on the Flyers' net. The defensemen of Huntsville were also effective in Midland's zone, and came away with two goals. The Otters were helped by Brock Heshka, who racked up one goal. Heshka scored on the power play 12:47 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Huntsville. An interference penalty on Chris Goodfellow had put Huntsville on the power play. Jake McIntyre assisted on the tally. Huntsville also got points from Trayvon Henry, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Huntsville came via Marco Luciani, who had one. The Flyers' offense rang up 64 shots on the Otters' net. Huntsville incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Marco Colangelo recorded 29 saves for Midland. The Flyers incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
