Lafreniere's goals lift Stayner to 6-3 victory over Alliston

The Stayner Siskins relied on the scoring touch of Kyle Lafreniere, who netted two goals, to beat the Alliston Hornets, 6-3.

Lafreniere's tallies came on the power play at 11:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stayner and 2:31 into the second to make the score 4-2 Stayner.

Stayner's penalty kill excelled, as the Siskins gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Stayner's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Siskins finished with 28 penalty minutes.

Stayner additionally got points from Ricky Darrell, who also registered one goal and one assist. Sean Healy also scored for Stayner. More assists for Stayner came via Zachery Hannon, who had two and Trevor Franklin, Cooper Martin, Ryan Hyndman, Jesse Anderson, Corey DeRose, and Ryan Perencz, who each chipped in one.

Alliston forced Stayner goalie Aaron Taylor to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. The Hornets' normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. Alliston averages 2.1 goals allowed per game. The Hornets' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Alliston finished with 38 penalty minutes.

The Hornets were helped by Dakota Brooks, who tallied one goal. Brooks scored on the power play 18:17 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Stayner. Alliston earned a power play opportunity when Brandon Watson was put in the box for interference. Andrew Ceolin picked up the assist. Others who scored for Alliston included Sean Anderson and Tanner Dockerty, who scored one goal each. In addition, Alliston received assists from Jamie Bennett, Bobby Sloan, and Matt Hamilton, who contributed one a piece.

Taylor rejected 30 shots on goal for the Siskins. Stayner registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. The Hornets' Connor Ryckman stopped 23 shots out of the 29 that he faced.
