Midland erases deficit to stun Huntsville, 4-3Georgian Jr. C Sun, Dec 29, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Midland Flyers rallied from two goals down to secure a 4-3 win over the Huntsville Otters. Midland let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Flyers took a 1-0 advantage on a goal by Cam Russell at 4:22 in the first period. Midland went down 3-1 after Huntsville's Noah Stevens put the puck home at 17:40 in the first period. After knotting things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Bruce Brown at 15:44 in the third, the Flyers got the game-winner from Darren Nesbitt at 16:00 in the third period. Midland was led by Nesbitt, who registered one goal. The Otters were unable to stop the Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Midland eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. Midland also got points from Russell, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Brown, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Logan Webb also scored for Midland. More assists for Midland came via Matt Brown, Brandon Stratton, and Jake Evans, who each chipped in one. Huntsville also had goals scored by Jon Treadwell and Marco Luciani, who scored one goal each. In addition, Huntsville received assists from Jay Dix, Shawn Antonidis, Jake McIntyre, Matt Janke, Bryan Austin, and Travis Armour, who contributed one a piece. The Flyers' Marco Colangelo stopped 19 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Midland incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. TJ Sherwood made 29 saves for Huntsville on 33 shots. The Otters incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
