The Stayner Siskins were firing on all cylinders against the Orillia Terriers, and when the final buzzer sounded Siskins emerged with a 12-2 win. Brandon Watson had a great game for Stayner, netting two goals. Watson found the back of the net 10:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stayner and again while 17:29 into the first to make the score 2-0 Stayner. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 15:54 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Siskins forced Terriers' goalies to work without much rest, taking 35 shots and forcing 23 saves. Gordie Weiss made 11 stops and Alyssa Moyer made 12. Stayner bested its season scoring average. This season, the Siskins average 4.6 goals per contest. Stayner also got points from Sean Healy, who also racked up three goals and two assists to lead the team in points, Kyle Lafreniere, who also registered one goal and one assist, Corey DeRose, who also tallied two goals and two assists, Jackson Clarke, who also had two goals and one assist, and Derick Robertson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Stayner also got a goal from Ricky Darrell as well. More assists for Stayner came via Trevor Franklin and Brett Gauthier, who each chipped in one, Jesse Anderson and Jason Seeley, who contributed two a piece, and Quinton Bruce and Dakota Hynes, who each chipped in three. Orillia forced Stayner goalie Aaron Taylor to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Terriers struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 30 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays. Taylor rejected 30 shots on goal for the Siskins. Stayner ended with 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors. Team's Gauthier and Darrell were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Orillia registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For the Terriers, Kyle Nikkanen and Daniel Lee were ejected from the contest. |
