Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Orillia Terriers defeated the Huntsville Otters in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO). The shootout featured six attempts between both teams.Orillia came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Terriers was down 2-1 after a goal by Huntsville's Marco Luciani at 18:05 in the second period. Orillia knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Ryan Tucci at 19:19 in the third period. The Otters' power play was ineffective against the Terriers' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Orillia stifled Huntsville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Otters were unable to stop the Terriers from sending pucks towards the net, and Orillia eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. The Terriers found themselves short handed often, totaling 28 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays. Orillia was helped by Jake Shaw, who finished with one goal. Shaw scored on the power play 11:57 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Terriers had taken the advantage when Huntsville's Jason Morissette got sent off for hooking. Marty Lawlor assisted on the tally. Orillia also got points from Tucci, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Orillia came via Jason Binnie and Josh Allan, who contributed one a piece. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Trayvon Henry and Jake McIntyre, who each chipped in two. Gordie Weiss rejected 26 shots on goal for Orillia. The Terriers registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Connor Christianson recorded 35 saves for the Otters. Huntsville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
