Erin beats Alliston 4-0 as Denstedt gains shutout

The Erin Shamrocks used a sparkling performance by Tom Denstedt to take down the Alliston Hornets, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Erin's 4-0 shutout victory.

Alliston's power play was ineffective against the Shamrocks' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Erin was led by Patrick Reay, who tallied one goal. Reay scored 8:36 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Erin. Tyler Nieuwendyk provided the assist.

The Shamrocks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Hornets to score on any of their six power plays.

Erin additionally got points from Tyler Topham, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Mike Nicolucci also scored for Erin. More assists for Erin came via Sam Hisey, who had two and Cosimo Morin and Liam Adamson, who each chipped in one.

Alliston's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Erin power plays. The Hornets could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Alliston averages 3.7 goals per game. The Hornets forced Erin goalie Denstedt to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Tom Denstedt made 33 saves for the Shamrocks on 33 shots. Erin incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Connor Ryckman rejected 22 shots on goal for Alliston. The Hornets incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Alliston, Mark ODonnell was ejected from the game.
