Alliston holds on for 2-1 win against Fergus

The Fergus Devils tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Alliston Hornets would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1.

Alliston made the score 2-0 on a goal by Alex Daley at 13:38 in the third period, and Fergus got as close as 2-1 when Joshua Schafer scored 15:48 into the third period.

The Hornets were paced by Daley, who racked up one goal.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:04 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Alliston put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Devils to score on any of their three power plays. The Hornets kept Fergus' goalie busy throughout the game, and Alex Elliott made 35 saves on 37 shots.

Alliston also got a goal from Nic Archibald as well. More assists for Alliston came via Bobby Sloan, who had two and William Bradon and Jacob Tuck, who contributed one a piece.

The Devils were held below their usual level of production. Fergus averages 3.4 goals per game.

Other players who recorded assists for Fergus were Joshua Machesney and Dustin Scheer, who each chipped in one.

Connor Ryckman recorded 21 saves for Alliston. The Hornets totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-9 on the power play. Alliston ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Dakota Brooks was ejected from the game. The Devils ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major. For Fergus, Ben Roelofson was ejected from the game.
