Stayner's Darrell deadly on offense in 7-1 win against Caledon

The Stayner Siskins relied on the scoring touch of Ricky Darrell, who netted two goals, to beat the Caledon Golden Hawks, 7-1.

Darrell found the back of the net 1:47 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Stayner and again while 10:27 into the second to make the score 3-1 Stayner.

Caledon was stymied by Stayner netminder Jay Payton, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. Payton managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.22 prior to the game.

The Siskins forced Golden Hawks' goalies to work in net, finishing with 41 shots and forcing 34 saves. Chris Vellucci made 24 stops and Eric Pitcher made 10. Stayner's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Caledon power plays. The Siskins found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Stayner averages 4.3 goals per contest.

Stayner additionally got points from Sean Healy, who also registered two goals and two assists to lead the team in points and Brett Gauthier, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Stayner also had goals scored by Ryan Hyndman and Brandon Watson, who scored one goal each. More assists for Stayner came via Corey DeRose, who had two and Lucas Jeffries APM, Jesse Anderson, Kyle Lafreniere, Zachery Hannon, and Jackson Clarke, who contributed one a piece.

The Golden Hawks could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Caledon averages 3.8 goals per game.

The Golden Hawks were led by Daniel Cafagna, who scored the team's only goal. Cafagna scored 13:11 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Christian Bonaldi assisted on the tally.

The Siskins incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Caledon incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
