Fergus downs Orillia in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Fergus Devils pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Orillia Terriers on a clutch goal by Mathew Clarke.

Mike Traves had a great game for Fergus, netting two goals. Traves found the back of the net 17:33 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and again while on the power play 19:28 into the second to make the score 3-2 Fergus.

The Devils pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 26 penalty minutes.

Fergus also got points from Clarke, who also registered one goal and one assist. Fergus also got a goal from Cole Bradley as well. More assists for Fergus came via Griffin Heitshu, Patrick Snell, and Dominic Weathall, who each chipped in one.

Fergus was unable to stop Orillia from sending pucks towards the net, and the Terriers eventually piled up 49 shots on goal.

Orillia was helped by Marty Lawlor, who registered one goal. Lawlor scored short handed 10:41 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Orillia. The Terriers were on a disadvantage when Jakob McCarthy went off the ice for interference. Denny Benson assisted on the tally. Orillia additionally got points from Ryan Tucci, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Jason Binnie also scored for Orillia. In addition, Orillia received assists from Josh Allan, who had two.

Parker Merkley rejected 46 shots on goal for the Devils. Fergus registered one goal on five power play opportunities. The Devils ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cody Haw was ejected from the game. Orillia's Gordie Weiss stopped 23 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Terriers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
