Alliston penalty kill dominates in 6-1 defeat of HuntsvilleNew Tecumseth Rec Centre Fri, Dec 06, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Huntsville Otters failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Alliston Hornets shook off a number of penalties to win, 6-1. Alliston was paced by Tanner Dockerty, who had one goal. Dockerty scored 2:26 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Alliston. Mark ODonnell picked up the assist. The Hornets stifled Huntsville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Alliston's goal total was higher than its season average. The Hornets have scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of Alliston were also effective in the Otters' zone, and came away with two goals. The Hornets' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Alliston finished with 36 penalty minutes. Alliston also got points from Matt Hamilton, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Alliston also got a goal from Bobby Sloan as well. More assists for Alliston came via Zack Byblow, who had two and William Bradon, Joe Cochrane, and Nic Archibald, who contributed one a piece. Huntsville's power play unit failed to produce, and was held to zero goals on nine chances. The Otters could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game. Huntsville was led by Noah Stevens, who scored the team's only goal. Stevens scored 9:04 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Matt Janke provided the assist. Connor Ryckman recorded 19 saves for the Hornets. Alliston registered one goal on nine power play opportunities. The Hornets ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Andrew Ceolin was ejected from the game. The Otters' Connor Christianson stopped 23 shots out of the 29 that he faced.
