Weiss, Orillia blank Alliston, 1-0

The Orillia Terriers used a sparkling performance by Gordie Weiss to take down the Alliston Hornets, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Orillia's 1-0 shutout victory.

Jason Binnie's game-winning tally was the game's only goal. It came at 8:50 in the second period. The Terriers had gotten the advantage when Alliston's Mark ODonnell was sent off for high sticking. Ryan Tucci provided the assist.

The Hornets' power play was ineffective against Orillia's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Terriers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Alliston power plays. Orillia could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Terriers put an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. Orillia's offense rang up 31 shots on Alliston's net.

In addition, Orillia received assists from Wyatt Young, who had one.

The Hornets' offense operated below they season average. Alliston averages 3.8 goals per game. The Terriers were unable to stop the Hornets from sending pucks towards the net, and Alliston eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Weiss rejected 38 shots on goal for Orillia. The Terriers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Tyler Brindle recorded 30 saves for the Hornets. Alliston incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Hornets ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and ODonnell was ejected from the game.
