ODonnell's hat trick boosts Alliston over Midland, 6-3New Tecumseth Rec Centre Fri, Nov 29, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
A hat trick by Mark ODonnell was the highlight in Hornets' 6-3 win against the Midland Flyers. ODonnell's first goal came 9:27 into the first period. He then added goals at 17:36 into the first and at 15:15 into the third.In the losing effort, Midland was led by Sean Crowe, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Crowe scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 8:17 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Alliston. The Flyers had gotten the advantage when the Alliston Hornets' ODonnell was sent off for holding. Cam Russell assisted on the tally. Crowe's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Alliston with 19:09 left in the third period. Matt Smith provided the assist. Alliston forced Midland goalie Marco Colangelo to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The Hornets outdid their season average for goals scored. Alliston has scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign. Alliston also got points from David Leblanc, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Bobby Sloan, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Alliston also got a goal from Jacob Tuck as well. Other players who recorded assists for Alliston were Dakota Brooks, who had two and Jamie Bennett, Andrew Ceolin, and Nic Archibald, who contributed one a piece. Cole MacPherson also scored for Midland. In addition, Midland received assists from Darren Nesbitt, who had two. Connor Ryckman rejected 14 shots on goal for the Hornets. Alliston incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Colangelo recorded 30 saves for the Flyers. Midland incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Flyers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jake Evans was ejected from the game.
