Schomberg survives penalties, beats Orillia, 3-1Trisan Centre Thu, Nov 28, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Schomberg Cougars were able to defeat the Orillia Terriers, 3-1. Schomberg was sparked by Kiefer McIntosh, who had one goal. McIntosh scored 5:44 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Schomberg. Brandon Yorke assisted on the tally. The Cougars' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Orillia power plays. Schomberg forced Orillia goalie Gordie Weiss to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. The Cougars could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 44 minutes in penalties during the game. Others who scored for Schomberg included Kevin Sarrazin and Declan Lampe, who each put in one. More assists for Schomberg came via Christian Muenz, JP Crescenzi, Ryley Egerton, and Blake Culley, who each chipped in one. The Terriers were held below their usual level of production. Orillia averages 3.4 goals per game. The Terriers were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 34 penalty minutes. Orillia was led by Jake Shaw, who scored the team's only goal. Shaw scored 11:30 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jason Binnie provided the assist. Taylor Ewart made 21 saves for Schomberg on 22 shots. The Cougars registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Weiss rejected 37 shots on goal for the Terriers.
