Tucci nets hat trick, leads Orillia to 7-2 win over Midland

The Midland Flyers could not stop the Orillia Terriers' Ryan Tucci, who tallied a hat trick in a 7-2 win.

Tucci's first goal came 11:42 into the second period. He then added goals at 19:26 into the second and at 17:14 into the third.

Orillia's penalty kill excelled, as the Terriers gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Orillia stifled Midland's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Terriers' offense rang up 47 shots on the Flyers' net. Orillia found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Terriers average 3.5 goals per game. Orillia could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

Orillia also got points from Marty Lawlor, who also racked up two goals and one assist and Jake Shaw, who also had two goals and one assist. More assists for Orillia came via Josh Allan, who had two and Jason Binnie, Kyle Nikkanen, Zac Hele, and Haden Hiles, who contributed one a piece.

The Terriers were unable to stop Midland from sending pucks towards the net, and the Flyers eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Midland could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Flyers were helped by Cam Russell, who finished with one goal. Russell scored 18:25 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Chris Goodfellow picked up the assist. Midland also got a goal from Neal Burgess as well. Other players who recorded assists for Midland were Sean Crowe and Bruce Brown, who each chipped in one.

Orillia's Gordie Weiss stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Terriers registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Marco Colangelo made 40 saves for Midland on 47 shots.
